Bill's issue wasn't caused by the size of his file, but rather by something in his configuration which slows down Sweet Home 3D. He finally ended up by installing the 32 bit version and run it with DirectX driver as explained in the FAQ.
This is certainly not the best solution but at least, it's a workable solution.
