Rugs and carpets
I am new to this product so maybe this is obvious to others. How can I put a rug or a carpet on the floor?

Matts,

Download and import a rug:
http://sweethome3d.eu/importModels.jsp
Scroll down to find the rugs.

If you want another rug, search a nice picture, delete the "carpet.jpg" file and create another jpg-file WITH THE SAME NAME.

Hi!

Where do you import the files? What folder should they go to ?

Re: Rugs and carpets
This is a very old thread and there could be an easier way to do in recent versions:
Add a Box found in Miscellaneous category, resize it to the dimension of a carpet. Then, in its modification dialog box, click on the Modify button beside Materials option, select top material and change its texture with the image of a carpet you'll import.

Re: Rugs and carpets
Adding rugs definitely makes the 3D view feel more 'homey.' One thing I’ve started doing is picking out the actual rug I want first so the colors in the render are accurate.

I’ve been using some of the transitional patterns from Dash & Albert Rugs lately—you can just save the top-down view of the rug and import it as a 'User defined' texture in Sweet Home 3D. It makes a huge difference in the final lighting of the room when the rug texture looks authentic.

Yes, use primitive 3d object for this, or enithing else
