Show Distance Between Objects? I come from the world of UI design tools, and there is a common feature that lets you hold a key, say CTRL, and it will automatically show you the distance between the selected object and the objects you mouse over? Was curious if something similar exists? I find myself needing to add a lot of dimension objects just to know if I have the proper distance between different objects in my space. I am also super new to the tool (and loving it), so was figuring I am perhaps just missing a shortcut or an option somewhere? Or perhaps there is a better way to quickly get spacing between objects? Appreciate any help! Thanks! |

Re: Show Distance Between Objects? This feature doesn't exist in Sweet Home 3D. You'll have to draw dimensions, but if you have too many dimensions in your plan, I would suggest to cut - paste them in a separated level at the same elevation as the one of your drawing. Then you'll be able to hide / show this level when needed. ---------------------------------------- Emmanuel Puybaret, Sweet Home 3D creator |

Re: Show Distance Between Objects? Thanks for the info! I'll try a new level like that. For me it's less about needing them on display like that, and more being able to quickly arrange objects in the room/space. Having to add a measurement just to see how far something is from something else quickly eats up a lot of time for me when placing objects. But I'm also super new, so I'm sure I'll get better with use haha. Perhaps I'll add a post for this in the feature suggestion forum as well. Thanks again! |

Re: Show Distance Between Objects? To expand on the suggestion Emmanuel made: install the AutoDimensioning plugin. Add a level with the same elevation and make that the selected level (name it "Dimensions" or something like that). Use the AutoDimensioning plugin to add all dimensions. You now have all dimensions on the 'Dimensions' level and you can hide/show that level as you need.
