Re: A cabin in the countryside
Wow!
You're onto something really nice here Mike.
This is impressive!

Where do you picture this location?
Scotland maybe? Or Switzerland, Austria, New Zealand? Perhaps Sweden....or could it be Norway?

A couple of views of the outside now. Without the scenery as it slows my pc too much

Thank you Xiste, comments are appreciated.
Certainly thinking northern Scandinavia, maybe even Alaska

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Lovely! Very "cinematographic"... It could be like the beginning place of a western film...

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Thank you VeroniQ, I'll add a few more images later, several mods to the decking, elevation and texture, windows and steps have all changed since these renders

Started work on the kitchen cabinets, kinda farmhouse theme.

Re: A cabin in the countryside
More cabinets.

And a couple showing some detail.
In the 1st we see the small pillar, 1 each side of the sink, and the rounded edge to the work top

In the 2nd we see the pillars separating the lower cabinets.

.
I may replace all the handles yet, i used the spheres from the library, unfortunately the object itself appears to have an area of shadow which takes away from the affect i want, so they may get changed to cylinders.
The only item used that did not come from SH3D is the mixer tap, it came from Trimble.

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Well done, Mike! I like very much this large sink and the pillars are elegant. I'm only not very found of the handles too...

Really cool project, Mike!
You are attending to the details. I like that!

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Thank you both for your comments, still struggling with the handles, so i am now making a matching welsh dresser

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Still not resolved the handle issue but i am quite happy with the welsh dresser.

May tweak a couple of things, as i do, but well pleased.

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Finally decided on the handles, though i had to resort to sketchup to make them.

2 tweaks to the cabinet, added a further pillar to the upper section and changed the profile of the crown moulding

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Cheers Xiste, glad you liked the cabinets m8.

I have the furniture made now for the office, usual desk, a couple of cabinets and a coffee table, this time i have also had a go at some chairs and an architects table.

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Cool!
An old drawing board with a tracer. Must be twenty years since I used that.
Nice design.

Re: A cabin in the countryside
tracer? is that the name of the arm?

Posted by Xiste at Jul 18, 2020, 2:45:16 PM
Re: A cabin in the countryside
Back in the days there used to be this thing on top of the drawing board that we called a a tracer because it could be folded out and used to trace the outlines of f.i. a drawn object you wanted to copy.
I have tried to find it on the net, but the closest I could get was this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drafting_machine which is more or less the same thing, but a lot bigger.

Re: A cabin in the countryside
Next part of the project is a seating/reading area between the kitchen and the main room. I started making a bookshelf for a small library.

But then decided it needed a bar. biggrin

Reading a good book and enjoying an 40y old whiskey! Life can be so good!
And you Mike, you should be a furniture designer!
