Yep. And because I wrote that the night before I located the .deb for SH3D 6.3...

so I'm now running 6.3

Your Core2Duo is not a problem BUT if You have a dedicated graphic card You will need some more settings.
After this operation success we could go to next step.

Well, my old 2-core laptop runs v4.3 fine - just very slow - and I can even view "top view" for Furniture Icons in Plan in that.

However, v6.1.2 and v6.3 has the Furniture Icons in Plan option greyed out and only displays "catalog icons". I've had that problem on both the old 2-core laptop and the "new" 4-core "media machine".

Why?:
1.

I located the .deb for SH3D 6.3... so I'm now running 6.3

I've never mentioned .deb package.
For more precision - You have sweethome3d 6.3+dfsg-1
and Maintainer:[email protected] so
Is NOT Puybaret Emmanuel.

And is an Dell Optiplex 780 made in 2007
It's a little bit slow but is fully functional(SH3D).

And maybe more other functions You've don't discovered yet.
From my side it took me a few years to understand that.
I've write the tutorial to make others to avoid this.
Until there I'll wait for you.

I dunno, I'm just lazy, I guess tongue

The package versions have always worked well in the past and I'm just used to doing dpkg for anything I want to install.

So: I finally got around to doing what you told me to do and installed SH3D 6.3 via the file from Sourceforge - and it fixed the problem. I now no longer have the option greyed out and I can view "Top View".

Some other time that's not so late at night, I'll carry on through the instructions for the library editors.
