Like the second version better than the first, looks bigger as well with only one floor to ceiling shelving.

Have you tried without the ceiling light, just the wall lights and candles? as that will help make it more cosy. Is this the kind of effect you are after?
PS: Don't forget to add a towel, so people can dry their hands!
