Re: Artificial-Intelligence-Inspired Homes I'm back in California and I've gone back to one of my previous works in progress. This time I've gone back to the "1930s Tudor Revival fantasy house". Specifically, the kitchen, living room, dining room, and laundry/mud room in that house. Oh, and a little bit in the powder room and foyer. Previously, I had downloaded some rather hefty-sized models for the layout. The file was over 84 MB with only those rooms decorated, which is larger than any of my other homes fully furnished. Yikes! So, I went back in and replaced what I had in there with smaller items that I could make look like what had been before, in the kitchen at least. The file is now down to about 29 MB. Much better. Here's the kitchen. ![]() From near the closet looking toward the far wall. From near the door to the laundry/mud room looking toward the doorway to the foyer. The changes to the dining room can be seen a bit from here; I've added wood paneling, just like might have been included in a home from the 1930s or even earlier. I also tried to personalize it a bit by changing the textures of some of it. And, as I'm looking at it, I think I might have a few things that still need some work. Here's the laundry/mud room. Taken from near the back door looking toward the powder room. You can see the small change that I made to the powder room; instead of the plain blue walls I put in wallpaper. Taken from the powder room door looking toward the back of the house. For some reason the washer and dryer didn't want to render well in either picture; I apologize. I couldn't find anything that worked as a replacement for the REALLY huge-file-sized model (I think it was something like 17 MB), so I found something different but very much smaller in file size; it's not exactly what I wanted but it mostly works. And, at this moment, I just realized I hadn't shared a picture of this room before... Anyway... ![]() Since the powder room is not easy to render a photo of, I don't want to try right now since it's after one in the morning and I ought to get to bed soon. Here are some areas not previously shown, but I had worked on them some. First, the foyer, taken from just inside the front door. You can see into the great room through the doorway on the left, and it's kind of dark. I just realized that I haven't put in any lighting in there yet (same with the upstairs landing), but I have placed furniture in there, although I might not keep it the same. The double doors to the right are to the family room. I'm thinking of maybe having those double doors being pocket doors though, although I've not seen a model for that. What's there works, I guess. Finally, the great room, taken from in front of the windows looking toward the back. It's pretty dark in here, I know. It's still a work in progress, and I've only added the lighting to the dining room. Also, most of the furnishings are placed as is; I haven't yet worked on any personalization of anything in this room. As you can see there's a fireplace, which separates the room so that there's a small sort of library/reading nook near the window and a small sitting area to watch television. I might change things up in here though, since there is a family room on the other side of the foyer... I'm not sure at the moment. I've also been kind of playing with the idea of making the family room into an office, but then it leads to the sun room which would be kind of weird I think. Okay, that's all I've got for today, I don't see that I'll be getting any more done on the house as I'm falling asleep at my desk. Good night. ---------------------------------------- ![]() |
