Interesting. Different thoughts sparked by the same file. I am culturally biased, and assuming Lars is Swedish - therefore I think wooden cottage style (stugan i skogen). I reset the compass to Sweden to get the low light.
I also think Scandinavian furniture, old fashioned Nordic wall-paper (Skepper-tapet) and wood panels. Some old stuff, some new. Direct access from kitchen to dining table. Just like Hans, I think the Staircase must be cased in and that I need to feel the basement and 1st floor. I left the windows and doors in place. Need to know more about the symmetry of the house before messing with that. I did add a kitchen hatch just for kicks, though.
I also always think file size. My file is smaller than the original. But that is just me, with a strong dislike for big, sluggish files. Here is my quick-and-dirty mock-up
