I need to draw some architectural plans for a house project (building permissions and more).

After a lot of false starts with other tools, I discovered that the plan view in SH3D is pretty much sweet for drawing these kinds of things :)

Have even drawn the cross-sections by laying out the vertical walls and rooflines horizontally etc.

But the furniture all looks out of place on these ...

I have been using Sweet Home 3D to experiment with different layouts lately and one thing I did not expect to matter this much is rugs, especially modern ones.

I started adding a few simple geometric rugs into my floor plans just to see how they looked, and it actually helped define spaces way better than I thought. In open layouts, a modern rug almost acts like a visual boundary between areas ...

I just bought a 3D model of a stove at CGTrader. The download section proposes .MAX, .OBJ, and an additional maps.rar file.

When importing the OBJ file in Sweethome3D, the wood burning stove is all gray. There are no texture. I guess the maps.rar contains textures and details ? How can I have the full object imported in Sweethome3D ?

Hi everyone,

When I receive a .3mf model and need broader compatibility in slicers / old workflows, I usually convert it to .stl first, then import and rescale/check normals.

My quick checklist:
1) Open the 3MF and verify units (mm vs inch)
2) Export to STL
3) Re-import STL and check orientation + wall thickness
4) Slice a tiny test section before full print

I made a small free ...

I’m using Sweet Home 3D (version 7.2) to recreate my house. I want to create an aerial view photo during daytime, but I’ve noticed an issue: sunlight seems to pass through the roof/ceiling. As a result, even rooms without windows or open doors are brightened by sunlight. You can even see from the wall shadows that the light comes from above, which also affects the first floor.
