New Models page

I saw all the additions on the Models page and when I noticed the great looking new ones at the bottom (by Andrew Kator & Jennifer Legaz and by the author of Resources.blogscopia) I thought that their models look so much nicer than mine so I should get out of the model making hobby. Just kidding.

I did want to know about the textures in those models though. I imported one of them but there was no texture to it (like in the thumbnail on the models page shows.) It was just plain white. Does SH3D support textures yet or not? Did I do something wrong with the import?

Re: New Models page

Don't worry, your models are interesting too, and they get nicer and nicer. ;-)

Only some models of Resources.blogscopia use textures.
But all of them use a MTL (like material) file to specify their colors and/or textures.
As Blender (and I think also AOI) are able to export OBJ files with their MTL file, it should be me much easier to create OBJ files with the correct colors.

You just kept an habit that you may loose from now ;-)
Sweet Home 3D can now import directly a ZIP file with the model it contains, and if this model needs a MTL file, you must import it from the ZIP file.

Re: New Models page

Hi,

I'm trying to import models from 3D Max into SH3D (ver. 1.8) by exporting the models to obj and mtl files. I then put the obj, mtl and jpg texture files into a single zip archive and try to import this into SH3D.

SH3D imports the object but without textures. I get a white "clay" object. :(

Can anyone point me to a step-by-step tutorial? Or is it obvious from this short description what I am doing wrong?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Regards,
Andre

Re: New Models page

OBJ and MTL files are text files.
The MTL file shouldn't be too long
Could you post here the content of the MTL file here?
