Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

I have the same problems that everybody else discribes but only sometimes on Win 10. Some days it works without any issues. I can always tell when there will be an issue because the furniture does not fully load and the grey hourglass remains isntead of showing the furniture. Then I know there is no point in even trying.

I just had it again a few minutes ago and decided to try the Java Web Start and there I have no issues. That is at least an easy work around for the time being for me.

Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

Could some of you give a chance to the Windows installer of the version 5.5 Beta 11? As explained here, it comes with the latest Java Runtime Environment 8u144 which seems to work better.
Thanks for your feedback smile

Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

I could confirm that with Windows 10 newest pachtes, SH3D with built-in Intel HD 4000 graphics (Core i7 mobile QuadCore) is very slow suddenly (at least aeral view). Some months ago aerial was fast enought. Reinstalling Java does not speed up. But I configured the graphics software to use NVidia NVS 5400M graphics for java instead. This is working fine, aerial is fluent now.
Also the webstart variant is working fine (tested before I switched to NVidia graphics).

Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

TeeSeR, thanks for your feedback. Did you have the chance to try the Windows installer of the version 5.5 Beta 11 mentioned in my last post, with the slow graphics driver of your PC?

Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

New beta 5.5 b11 is still slow using Intel HD 4000 graphics with Windows 10 up-to-date. Also startup without a project is extremely slow, because of aerial view is starting (first black screen then gray).
Using powerful graphics NVidia NVE4000 (1GB Graph-RAM): Fast.

Version 5.5 Beta 11
Java version 1.8.0_144 / 64 bit / 5.4 GB max
Java 3D version 1.6.0

Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

Can you check if the Java Web Start version you tried was running under 32 or 64 bit architecture (look at About dialog box)? If it's running under 32 bit, please install Java 64 bit too and run Sweet Home 3D Java Web Start version with it, to check if that version runs correctly too, because I suspect an issue in 64 bit graphics drivers.
To force a Java Web Start in 64 bit, run the following command:
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_144\bin\javaws.exe" -J-d64 http://www.sweethome3d.com/SweetHome3D.jnlp

Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

You're right. When I use Java webstart 32Bit the aerial is fast. The same with Java webstart 64 Bit is slow. Before I had to give a rule to NVidia to prevent jp2launcher.exe running with dedicated graphics.

"C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_144\bin\javaws.exe" -J-d64 http://www.sweethome3d.com/SweetHome3D.jnlp
Sweet Home 3D ® Version 5.4
Java Web Start
Java version 1.8.0_144 / 64 bit / 2 GB max
Java 3D version 1.6.0
-> Slow

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_144\bin\javaws.exe" -J http://www.sweethome3d.com/SweetHome3D.jnlp
Sweet Home 3D ® Version 5.4
Java Web Start
Java version 1.8.0_144 / 32 bit / 0.6 GB max
Java 3D version 1.6.0
-> Fast

Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

Two days ago I downloaded SH3D. The 3D view is sluggish.
I run Win10 on my computer.
SH3D'S "About" windows says
Java 1.8.0-54/64 bits
Version Java 3D 1.60
When I start with the launcher "SweetHome3D.jnlp" the 3D is running perfectly smooth.
How can I fixed that?
Regards

The answer is in your own post: use the jnlp / Java Web Start version!

Re: 3d View suddenly impossibly slow

I fixed the problem another way by downloading and installing Java3D 1.5.1 for AMD 64
