confused How do you group and ungroup objects?

I'm trying to experiment a bit with an unusual floor plan,
so I want to drag entire rooms around, complete with furnishings.

I'm a newbie, sorry. I searched in the forum, but couldn't find an answer to something this basic.

Re: How do you group and ungroup objects?

Mark,

There is a solution to do this using the AdvancedEdit plug-in. In the manual there is a paragraph dedicated to a Trick: How to move the entire design. This would of course work on part of your design as well.

There is another solution, that's much easier, but has some drawbacks. Using the plug-in CopyAsNewFurniture you can select, then copy and paste a part of your design. You can then very easily shuffle your room-blocks in any way that pleases you. The drawback is that you cannot edit your blocks.

So, my solution would be to use trick #2 to play, then use trick #1 to make the definitive plan.

Re: How do you group and ungroup objects?

Why not a simple Select all + drag and drop of the selection ???
If you want to move only a part of the design you can also use a selection rectangle and shift selection to toggle the selection of selected items. If you want to detach the walls of a room to move it elsewhere use a cut + paste.

Emmanuel,

Yes, of course that's possible, but if you want to have exact coordinates, my solution(s) is (are) better.

It would be even better if the Group command would include walls and rooms.

Re: How do you group and ungroup objects?

i dont think including walls and floors is necessary because they can be moved by using selection rectangle.Best way to do that is to sellect all you furniture from the list from the lower right side of the screen (ctrl+a) and then ctrl+E make all the furnitures invisible then you have only walls and rooms that can be mooved any where easily....now to place the furnitures back into the changed positin of the house group all the furnitures it is possible even if tey are not visible yet.select the new formed group then (ctrl+E)modify furnture then make them visible and place in right place in the house you can then ungroup them again if you like
