An espresso machine factory in sweet home

For the past 7 years, we've used SH3D to plan how we build espresso machines, where people sit, what the workflow will be. Over the years, we've expanded from 1 space of 2,000 square feet, and are now about to add another 10,000 sq feet to end with 40,000. 35 people work here.

The high quality 3D renders, and ease of the 2D models, allows me to sit down with people who work in the factory, and for them to visualize how the next plan will work. We *always* find mistakes in our planning, when we use the 3D view.

Sweet Home also makes the move much less stressful for people, because they've "seen" what the new space will be, and how they'll fit.

There's so much to think about, with engineering constraints, but human factors too, that and open process is the only way we've managed to do this.

Because SH3D is free, we also share the .sh3d file on social media, and invite collaboration/comments.

Anyway, just sharing, because my partner and I *love* SH3D, it's been an important factor in our little venture's success.

Thanks for posting this interesting image. It’s not often that we see the layout of a factory designed with Sweet Home 3D! Does it match the 40,000 sq ft place you mentioned (3716 m² for metric system people)?

That is very cool. The thing I like most is that you give staff the option to play around and maybe come up with improvements in a collaborative way.

Other than minor things you spot in meetings, have you had any instances where someone came back into the office, and said "I was playing around over the weekend...", showed you a revised version of the shared file, and you've thought "Damn! that is a great idea!" and acted on it? Especially interesting if it was someone unexpected.
