Ignore light in aerial view boundaries

I'm trying to make a whole floor dim with very diffused light to remove unpleasant shadows.

I do that by adding a huge light on top of the house and it works fine, the problem is that it makes the floor very far in the 3D view with no way to get closer. I would like the light to be present in rendering, but keep boundaries of the view as if it weren't there.

I can make the light smaller but then it starts showing shadows

Pan 3D-tool discussed in this thread might help.
Most recent version right now is 1.5 and can be found here.
